Administration against Illegal operation Advertisments

I am unware if there is going to be an in-game ad system, however If there is one or something similar to place advertisements to on goings in town. There should be rules in place to regulate them to be reasonable and not outlandish. Ads should be for stores, events, job offers, etc. This makes sense, what does not make sense is the following. Other servers have had major issues where ads were being used  to push illegal operations under the guise of legit businesses to sell things like weed, guns, prostitution, ETC. Not only is this a copout for rp that should be underground, but it makes very little sense. The ad system should be just that, business and recreation

 The illegal operation cover up guise should however not include  businesses funded by illegal ops. Strip clubs. Pawnshops, nightclubs, as the operations themselves are not illegal, hower could possibly be funded by criminal orgs. this makes sense, its a business side

What I'm talking about those ads specifically disguised ads to sell guns, drugs, prostitution as they really do feel there just to make things easy and skip the rp.

And im sure no one really wants to see "escort for hire/Escort agency" ads filling the ad section as its way too obvious and not everyone is keen on seeing that rp right in their face. This is coming from someone who has rpd and escort for over a year to. So trust me, its a problem. 
 

Please dont let the system be used to take the easy way rather than rp the struggles of illegal ops.

If someone is advertising escort services in a way that would break solicitation laws then they’re a very easy target for LEOs.

I've never been a fan of ooc rules for /ads. As long as they don't give very specific ads I would leave them. After a few arrests, no one will do it again.

In all honesty. /ads might be treated as a more serious platform, but people nowdays are getting way too comfortable on instagram and tiktok and unintentionally reporting on themselves. So yeah,  unless it's blatant troll I'd say that maybe some ads can fly.

From what ive seen of the admin team on lcrp, the idea here is to take a far less restrictive direction in terms of what is being rpd around, and how. And more so to focus on if the rules are being followed.

I can understand the sentiment of "Let it play out in character" but what i found was often when those ads would come up, it really was used to just skip the rp entirely. And more often than not, the police would ignore these ads because of how absurd they were. 

Not only that but even when police have made stings on those ads, they would keep appearing, and appearing, and appearing, and sometimes appear even more later on because people would use it to recruit into those illegal ops, because they knew it wasnt being enforced ooc or ic. 

To me, using /ad in this manner has never been rping stupidly and getting caught, its always been to try to skip to the reward or money. Unless theres this dark web area that you can place those ads, i dont see freedom in illegal ads being a benefit to the server. Sure it allows you to advertise whatever you want, but it also lets people really just take the easy way

/ad is a relic of the SAMP RPG era and should be modernized as far as I'm concerned.

 

However, to talk about the subject at hand, then I think it's important to understand that:

 

/ad can be roleplayed as any different type of advertising and is determined by the catching, not the pitching player.

 

For example, I can advertise a nightclub opening tonight at 10pm. Player A roleplays he heard it on radio. Player B roleplays she saw it on social media. Player C roleplays they saw a banner ad at the top of a website. You get the drift.

 

Now, instead of modernizing the advertisement system, SAMP servers put a band-aid on it and said, ''You can't advertise that: we prohibit certain types of ads.'' 

 

In reality, escort services are generally easily accessible, and considering /ad can be any different type of advertising it's technically unrealistic to prohibit it. On the other hand, it's the least creative and laziest way to advertise any illegal product or service, including but not limited to escorts. When you know where to look you can usually even buy (small amounts of) recreational drugs online without going on the dark web. 

 

I'll be completely honest I think the way the old /ad system is designed it should be allowed to advertise practically anything as long as you are creative and aren't plain stupid with ''Buying an eagle from the desert with 100 feathers.'' and should be dealt with IC, but I'm also of the opinion that /ad is outdated and should be reworked completely.

I am hoping the ad system isn't restricted, let people be foolish. Like most people say a dumb criminal makes for a fun police scene! Play stupid games and win stupid prizes, if you wanna advertise yourself off to the public, expect the police knocking on your door. 

 

As long as the ads are not stupid and are breaking other server rules, I'd say we should be good to let them be as free as possible.

I'd rather have restrictions than to see ridiculous criminal ads pop up on my phone.

Criminals should use the Social Media apps instead of the general "/ad" system in-game.
