  1. We need to stop the staff invasion of americans/romanians
  2. Hey guys, let's stay on topic. We are not debating the 2nd amendment, how and why it exists. I do like option 1, however, here are my concerns: Even if there is a script limitation disallowing characters younger than 21 to purchase a weapon, we are faced with players who have obtained legal weapons reselling them to criminal roleplayers. Sure, we can disallow that via a rule, however, it requires strong enforcement and proactive actions to avoid this from happening. Let's not forget that the admin team does have quite a lot of responsibilities, so we must consider if this will be a pragmatic solution to the problem. It's easy to promise enforcement, but it's difficult to deliver on that promise if the admin team is preoccupied with other tasks. My second concern is tied with the first one; if we are not able to prevent the loopholes and people reselling legal weapons, we risk imposing significant damage on the illegal trade of weapons. Once that happens, it will be quite difficult to restore 'normality'. I personally prefer option 1 with the following IC restrictions: 1 gun per month (as suggested by @Flemwad) Whilst I understand some people will be unhappy with this, it will significantly slow down the attempts to get around loopholes, but it would also give more time to the admin team to observer if there are any rulebreakers. Training requirement. @Copacetic you will have to discuss this with your faction and see whether it is feasible. I think it can provide good RP for officers and civilians, but you need to consider whether you will have the manpower to do this short and long term. Obtaining a license should be a slow process. The application and training should not be done within 1 week. We need to discourage people from obtaining firearms the "easy way" and instead make this process roleplay-oriented. I wouldn't have any issue if obtaining a CCW takes up to a month. We need to seriously consider if license to purchase will also require training. In my opinion, it should. Otherwise, we will end up with people just doing a PF license because it's faster and will allow them to resell it more quickly. Finally, here are the consequences I propose for any rule violation related to legal weapons: First offence - 3 months community ban Second offence - permanent ban pretty self explanatory. This will be applied to rule breakers, as well as parties who harbor such individuals as well. @NickyW That promise still remains. We are the first community serious text-based RP community to get rid of a lot of unnecessary OOC restrictions. Of course there have to be some exceptions to ensure the stability of the server. If it was up to me, there would be 0 OOC rules, however, we haven't met this level of maturity yet, and I don't think we ever will. Another promise we made is to receive feedback from the community on important matters because at the end of the day, this is your community and you should all have a say. You might not always get what you want, but your feedback will always be considered when a decision is made on an important topic. With that being said, I am open to hearing more suggestions and feedback to what I have outlined above. I don't think we should jump to conclusions that option 1 will not work because it has honestly never been tried before + we all know the level of competency of other staff teams was not the best. We try to change that here.
  3. Update 6/27/2022 For complaints, please contact the respective team leader. Information can be found here:
  4. It is definitely a good discussion. I'd like to thank the Property Team for making it public to gain as much feedback as possible. I'd keep this topic open indefinitely just to track people's opinion over a period of time, especially once we try out the economy we have planned. Essentially, the only real way to combat the consequences of a player-to-player open market (inflation and abuse) is to rely on a capital gains tax which would have to be controlled by the Liberty City Government. Not only that, but we will have to ensure that our economy model is outstanding and the chances of inflation server-wide are brought to a minimum. Sounds easy on paper, difficult in practice. There will be IC interests (and likely motivated OOCly) to keep capital gains tax as low as possible. There might be politicians that will use that opportunity to stay in power. There might be opposition. Will that opposition win? Will it exist? How much time it will take to reverse the capital gain tax and increase it? Will it be too late? As you can see, if we are to rely on a capital gains tax, we basically rely on a lot of unknown factors. This means we can not predict in any way, shape or form, the future of the property system. This is quite similar with the economy. As much as we brag about how we are going to stop inflation, we can never be 100% sure until we test it out and we observe that our calculations were correct. There are a lot of variables with this too, and such calculation might take up to 6 months. So my recommendation; keep the system as it is right now. Keep this topic open to gather feedback. Try the economy before jumping to conclusions.
  5. Ideally, this can be something we do post launch. But I do like the idea overall, yes.
  6. I would really like to see an emphasis on IC as opposed to OOC. That is why I decided to make social media an IC business and I do expect a focus on the IC aspect from you guys. As void said, no monetization for "verification" and stuff like that. I'd also like to see the leadership involved in politics a lot more, considering our overall focus on the political environment here. Other than that, I'd say get people involved in this social media business. Even if it is passive RP, it would still be a great success, in my opinion.
  7. Amazing thread and faction story. I've excited to see how it develops.
