Been roleplaying for nearly 14 years or so. I'm 24, Psychology graduate, Lithuanian, living in the UK. I enjoy roleplaying legal characters that require less time commitment and I find creating characters with strong sense of law & justice in environment full of criminals to be very unique. Right now I mainly enjoy roleplay for the creativity aspect of it, working on businesses that enrich the environment with new roleplay possibilities, here's a business I had in World before I quit. I made a suggestion with both your and Biography's inputs. I think it would be great to set some guidelines to raise the standard regarding extortion racket and make it enjoyable for everyone.

But then essentially you are being forced to comply to an illegal gang that you had no ties to and do not wish to engage with or risk being CK'ed or get your business destroyed. I understand If you are running an illegal poker club at the back of your business and then the gang extorts you for it. But if you're just a regular businessman it makes no sense to have a choice of either complying with the gang or getting CK'ed.

I think the issue is when gangs ignore fear when doing the extortion rackets. As Aesthetics put it, best extortion racket RP is when the crime group already has some links to the business so the owner can't go to the police. If you simply threaten and harass the business owner, it is only normal to continue cooperating with the police. No sane business owner in 2021 would associate with criminals and put their families at risk instead of going to the police.

This is a very good answer, I agree that extortion should be done when the business owner gets involved with a criminal group himself. But what is the right, or simply better response by the business owner if he is being racketeered in the "walk in and threaten" type of way that is most common?

Exactly my concern. As a regular, legal character, one would always go out of their way to be on the side of the law and call 911 when in distress. But then that may put them in danger of CK. If they involve themselves with an OCG that also puts them in danger of being CK'ed.

The title is self explanatory, curious to hear what people think about the concept in general. And also, Should refusal to pay the extortion fee by the legal businessman, and cooperation with the police be sufficient reason for the extortionists to CK the legal businessman character?
