  1. That's very helpful, @Celibano. All your points make sense. I like the idea of making it policy to stick to the lore as laid out by FST. It's imporant LCN has some form of structure/links to the five families/groups further afield. What're your thoughts on how LCN factions should begin? Is spawning in as a fully fledged CF allowed, or should groups start as a racket before progressing to a crew etc? I ask this because auto-making characters should be taken seriously. For some, it takes 6+ months of strong character development to get inducted. This is usually how OOC beef starts. Furthermore, if the five-families have recently "collapsed", the likelihood of an autonomous family jumping up straight away might be far fetched. It'd be cool to see some low-end crews picking at the scraps and filling that void/gaining power over time.
  2. Hey all, My name is Pags and I’ve been a La Cosa Nostra role-player since 2009. I have a suggestion for rules and regulations that govern LCN RP. It would be good to hear what people think. For anyone who enjoys this genre, we are excited for this server. But there's a problem. Liberty City replaces New York and its history. This means the five-families along with our point of reference for modern-day American Cosa Nostra is gone. What I am suggesting is creating a LCRP OOC working group (call it a commission if you want!)--in which anyone can join--to help create the most authentic LCN experience possible. This group would be supported by Faction Management (Or could just be FM) and: Discuss and agree Liberty City Cosa Nostra lore, creating a framework that other groups can pull reference from. Agree fair and basic rules for how LCN crews start and progress on the server. E.g. Avoiding a fresh group spawning in as a Crime Family and taking on an official faction on day 3 (Again, something we've all experienced on other servers!) which isn't realistic. Help new factions develop/give them tips. Stomp and squash inter-LCN OOC faction bashing that’s common practice on other servers. Be a democracy, where people can be voted in to the “committee” by the community for decision making. Regarding an IC commission, I think it would be good to establish one down the line to help create an authentic vibe in LC (If IC events permit). We don't want LCN groups avoiding eachother like the plague because there's bad blood. As a whole, this isn't how LCN operate in NYC. To get there, I’d suggest: Every LCN faction on launch starts as a crew. They showcase their RP over a few months and Faction Management selects which group deserves to become a crime family. Only 3 x official crime families are allowed on the server at once. However, there can be multiple LCN crews that are “on record” with an official body. If one of these families collapses, another can take its spot. Any official LCN faction’s inducted members must be recognized as made by any future LCN start-up, and RP within accordingly. A start-up can have 1-2 made men, and induct more as they progress. In my eyes, this would make things a lot more enjoyable/coherent OOC. What do people think? Is this worth while, or would a free-for-all be better?
