  1. Remember how I mentioned misconceptions? Yea, so, 3D printing full guns is and always will be impossible. That's not to say that some parts can't be 3D printed but anyone who tries to 3D print each part and put it together will be lucky to live to tell the tell if they actually tried to fire it, if a 3D printed hammer can actually even set off the primer on the shell... No amount of plastic or 3D printer material can withstand the forces created when a live round goes off in a chamber. The parts that can safely be 3D printed are mostly already easily available elsewhere, and since 3D printers cost a fortune, that's a non-starter for even criminals. As for your IC requirements, the things that are already required IRL should be required IC as well, if you're trying to legally get a firearm. No issues with mental health, no felony charges and no misdemeanor domestic assault charges. Physical address, no PO box. Your point about a stable job with decent income, shouldn't be a factor, however, because everything about getting a firearm IRL is expensive, and you'd realistically need decent income anyway. No one is going to ask you how you got the money though, or deny you if you can't provide proof of work... And the reasoning is the whole reason the SCOTUS is going against NY anyway. Constitutionally, no reason is just as valid as any reason, so, no, I don't believe that a reason should be a requirement, or, if you are required to give a reason as to why you want one, it should have zero effect on the outcome of the application. Onto your final point, in states that don't try to take away our constitutional rights, it's just as much work to get a handgun as it is to get an AR-15. The only reason it SEEMS easier in NY is due to how NY handles firearms in general. With a handgun, in NY, you have to get a CCP (Concealed Carry Permit) to be able to buy a handgun. You don't have to get that permit for an AR-15 however. That permit is what the SCOTUS is trying to make NY change. Every state is going to do the same federal checks when you go to buy ANY gun. That's three misconceptions in your one reply. That's why I personally think that everyone needs to keep their own personal beliefs out of the mix when talking about these laws in the server. Either go with option 1, and keep the law the way it's going to be when SCOTUS gets done in NY, with the same IRL requirements I brought up in an earlier paragraph, or RP things as if there was a global firearms manufacturing ban, and remove the ability for EVERYONE in the server to get a firearm. That said, going any route except option 1 already limits things on an OOC level, which, the claim is, this server isn't trying to do. If you are really not going to OOCly limit things, then this poll and this topic should be deleted and disregarded. EDIT: Also, before I get called out about misconceptions myself, you may be able to actually 3D print all the parts to a .22 and get it to fire once or twice without blowing up and killing you, but I'm pretty sure the round wouldn't be lethal when it hit it's target, again, that's even if a 3D printed striker can set off the primer in the shell.
  2. Aye, we ain't finna get banned for talking about buying this are we? Because, if we are, ban me, cause I'm buying it, lol...
  3. That is reassuring. Very much so. As a former business owner myself, I understand the strategy around not wanting to disclose future growth potential. I had originally stated when I was creating the topic, that a simple yes or no would suffice, but i removed that line before posting because, reading it out loud, it had an assholeish sound to it, and I'm not trying to be that guy. Sounds to me like you've lost less than you had predicted which, in my eyes is a very good sign. I think we can safely lock this discussion now. I see great things ahead.
  4. I'm extremely hopeful that this server can achieve that. NGL, from what I've seen, everything is done right. Transparency, involving the community in what will be the final product, a whole team of devs instead of one or two. If I'm being honest, I can't see this server failing in either of the ways I brought up. Like you said, making predictions with so little data to actually go on is unrealistic. It's more out of worry for me, because I have seen communities with similar pre-launch numbers fail. As it stands right now, there isn't a decent RP server on V. I've been RPing since the days of VC:MP, so I'm starting to miss it, lol. The community I mentioned had a short lived life on V due to a myriad of reasons, and, while it was by no means perfect, it sufficed. It filled the void that the current servers haven't.
  5. So, I watched the trailers and was reading through the comments. I saw this one that was clearly made in bad faith, but he did kind of have a point. Now, I want to see this server succeed, because, the way things seem, it's going to be better than any existing GTA V RP server. So, the comment in question was more so a troll saying that a flashy trailer would only do so much. Obviously he was a troll, a bot, or otherwise sent in an attempt to smear the reputation, but, I've not seen the numbers I'm about to bring up be addressed. So, the discord was hoovering at 2170ish members in August, and that was at it's peak. Last check, it's down to around 2000. That's a loss of about 34 per month, which isn't much. What's scary to me is that between the peak and the upload of the video it had only dropped to around 2130ish, or approximately 13 per month, but between the upload of the video and now, it's lost about 33 per month. Of course, total discord users can't tell the whole story, but, history repeats itself. I watched a community that had a discord with around 7,000 members, about 500 or so were active within the discord. The community launched, and only got to a maximum of about 100 players on the first day. After that, the average count was about 30. Now, obviously the downward trend in members is a total non-issue if the server drops in the coming months, but things happen. Sudden surprise roadblocks can pop up (and, from the looks of it, they already have once) and push things back even further. Are there plans in place in case this happens, to retain some of the losses? Are there plans in place to account for the fact that history might repeat itself?
  6. Right. I've been looking through this topic, and I've come to a few conclusions. Firstly, the sheer number of misconceptions about guns I've seen people share. I'm not here to get into any of that, getting into political discussions on gaming forums usually never goes over well for any of the parties involved, but I will say this... People have to keep their personal political beliefs out of the creation of the rules of this server, especially if those beliefs are formed from misconceptions, otherwise, things like this happen. The claim is that they're not going to OOCly limit things. Then why was a poll even necessary in the first place? The laws of the server should reflect the laws of the real world, regardless of the misconceptions people have of those laws, otherwise, you're putting OOC restrictions in place, and OOCly limiting things. No form of gun control has, can or will ever work IRL, because as long as firearms are allowed to continue to be manufactured, criminals are going to be able to get their hands on them. It's been shown time and time again. A place has a specific type of weapon banned, then somehow people were able to get said weapon and use it for nefarious deeds. So, if the staff limits things OOCly, then it needs to be treated as a manufacturing ban, and NO ONE should be able to get guns. Not even PD or SWAT...
  7. So, I think that the crimes need to be spearated into Misdemeanors and Felonies, like IRL. if it's a misdemeanor, the time should be done in hours, based on severity. However, I think felonies should be days or weeks. Once you get into life sentences the player should have the option over weather they want a CK or if they want to stay in prison forever. Some people like prison RP. Death sentences, I agree with JJJABOTULE there. A couple of weeks to give them time to appeal it. I do think that it should decay while offline, as well, that way, if someone got like, a 2 day sentence, they could just use an alt in the meantime, or, even not connect while jailed, lol...
