  10. Absolutely, but should follow the same structure as a 'welfare' system that applies for all businesses. Unfortunately, such a system would require red tape and supervision by FST. Acknowledging the fact that businesses will not be able to sustain themselves financially through the roleplay it receives is a healthy prediction to make and such a compensation system is not only commendable but it will also promote roleplay generation. Businesses will be able to stay open while also opening doors to roleplay being generated by them, which should be the main motivation behind the business sector. I believe the FST business compensation should cover all expenses to begin with. An interesting issue will be the way this translates into infinite taxes being paid, however, as money being pumped into the In-Character economy will obviously have repercussions. Secondly, the amount of this compensation should also cover a profit. This can be calculated as a default profit margin given by this compensation. The reason for having a profit margin is simple; this policy would help businesses who have roleplay value not only stay afloat, but would not be able to get a profit otherwise. Some variables to decide the profit margin can be the time the business was open, the amount of employees, FST inferring the roleplay value of the business at their discretion, and so on. But by default, the compensation could cover a profit margin of 3%, for example. A score system for this would help immensely but the FST can decide this at their own volition. The other revenues gained by the business should not be taken into account, and can be the rewarding factor for the business owner or employees. This compensation system should exist through application and should not be given by default as to help curb potential inflation from business inactivity, abuse, or a sharp rise in business creation. It should be short and sweet and contain information like the variables above to decide the amount of compensation. In order to know expenses, it's reasonable to have at least a month of existence as a requirement to judge the business' finances before giving handouts. Since any business holds roleplay value, from a corporation to a laundromat, it should cover all businesses. The compensation should be given in rates and not fixed amounts and relate to expenses, value of the business, etc. No, this should go in the budget of the business. If there was a rule or system that would allow only the aforementioned expenses to be covered and the stipend profit margin to be given in the business budget, that would be neat. Although a business is an individual responsibility, so to avoid things to be complicated needlessly, it can be just given to the business and let the rest happen. Mismanagement and stupidity can be punished retroactively if necessary. A business owner can add all necessary employees to their expenses list and have them included in the compensation. In time, a business owner should be able to include any other hires in their compensation application as an update to change the sum being given to them and facilitate new employees. This compensation shouldn't be restrictive in this regard.

  15. Not sure if it's possible to limit NPC activity only to a certain area of the map. Since we're using a map mod that was not built for GTA 5, all Liberty City mods before this server's creation attempted to have the GTA 4 AI paths introduced to the map and it resulted in gigantic issues with AI. This would also mean that all other paths from the map would have to be manually removed, from the entire map, leaving paths only to highways. I don't think it's feasible, especially when the developers are not accepting any other features besides what they're working on because of their work volume. It would be really cool to have, but converting the GTA 4 map to a completely different game already gave the map an enormous amount of issues. The in-house map for LC:RP has already been fixed for things like stairs, clipping, missing textures, and so on, and it didn't take a day or two. I can't imagine the effort it would take to have working AI paths. It will also take up a lot of valuable bandwith that can be used to house players and their assets instead. LC:RP's budget is based on the goodwill of its players, so giving a bigger budget to hosting for some AI doesn't sound realistic.
  16. CENTURY GLOBAL OUT of CHARACTER FACTION INTRODUCTION Century Global portrays a modern media-oriented, multi-industry conglomerate. Its main focus, as a civilian faction, is to provide roleplay in the media and corporate roleplay niches. Our faction takes inspiration from the various conglomerate giants originating from the United States, but does not portray or reinterpret any specific corporation. Century Global and its subsidiaries are entirely fictive. The Century Global subsidiaries draw inspiration from real media networks such as C-SPAN, the CBS Corporation, AT&T, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, the New York Post, and TMZ. We do not intend to have an accurate portrayal of these companies, and only draw inspiration from the real-life counterparts only in aesthetics and graphics. Their operations, hierarchical structure, employees and general direction are contained and driven by the In-Character environment alone. Various faction media that will be visible in-game or on this forum will cover strictly In-Character events, factions, characters, and general game environment. As the faction is a conglomerate and Century Global is a parent company of other businesses, and given the In-Character situation of the time, the faction will expand or shrink through organic mergers, acquisitions or sales of its subsidiaries. This means that our faction will not remain a fixed structure, and the holding company, Century Global, will remain the only permanent business entity as it is the holding and management company. We wish to set the highest standard possible in terms of roleplay quality and expect nothing less. While our faction is a fictive portrayal of an American conglomerate and we take our roleplay presence very seriously, we stress that the faction is conducted in a satirical theme. This means we fully adhere to the community's philosophy toward roleplay freedoms, and will be guided solely by our characters' decisions and in-game events, who will pursue various and diverging interests. Depending on these factors, we do not hold an orthodox view of a niche roleplay faction. For example, instead of constraining our roleplay presence to robotic office roleplay and uphold a strictly lifeless corporate culture with no other roleplay interactions besides redundant office meetings, a company executive may explore opportunities for embezzlement or fraud along with other company individuals, while a clique of tabloid directors in the faction might conspire to blackmail a celebrity for various demands. As mentioned previously, we will not contain the scope of our faction and such actions will be tolerated (with constraints), but encouraged only in the interest of diversifying roleplay opportunities. However, this does not mean we intend to run a criminal faction whatsoever, and we expect such events to be done in the absolute highest standard and with common sense. We remain a legal, civilian faction, with an In-Character reputation to maintain and strong business standards to enforce. Things such as corruption, nepotism, intrigue and politicking will be an integral part of our roleplay and aspiring members of this faction will join with these facts taken into account. The American corporate environment and its elite caste has always been a permanent generator of controversy. As a faction which portrays itself as an actor within this elite capitalist environment, we seek to be accurate in this regard. The faction will prime its In-Character interests and the interests of its executive class, while pursuing a dominant role in the economy. This will not reflect the Out-of-Character stance of the faction members and its leadership in any way, and we wish to cooperate with all civilian roleplay factions to maintain a healthy, realistic and productive roleplay environment. Century Global is an exclusively In-Character entity that does not, and will not transcend into the Out-of-Character environment, and will seek reconciliation if our faction's In-Character actions will affect the Out-of-Character environment of our community. JOINING THE FACTION Faction recruitment will be done exclusively In-Character through employment opportunities and networking. Acceptance within the faction is never guaranteed on an Out-of-Character level, regardless of the In-Character recruitment process. We reserve the right to remove any faction member at any time without notice. If you would like to join Century Global, please do the following: thorough research into how corporations work, have a basic understanding of economic and finance principles; understand how media corporations work and the way journalism is done in in the United States; understand the American political environment and its ramifications; understand the general life context of New York and its portrayal through Liberty City; have a strong command of the English language; have any roleplay experience longer than one year; common sense is mandatory. Despite the debate about elitism and exclusivity in roleplay communities, we consider ourselves an elitist faction with very high roleplay standards. While we're not snobs by any stretch of the imagination, we expect an aspiring member of our faction to have the willingness and skills to live up to the quality we want to put out into this community. In short, we're only looking for people who know what they're doing. Since the community is still in development and In-Character recruitment is not possible, please reach out to Justitiae#9628 or Celibano#9557 on Discord. After launch, recruitment will be done strictly In-Character, with everything described above in mind. CHARACTER KILLS If you would like to engage in any illegal acts, no matter what they are, you automatically agree that Century Global reserves the right to a Character Kill. Century Global is NOT an illegal faction, however, we will not use the pretext of a civilian faction to take away responsibility of the in-game actions of our members. No Century Global faction member will be given the ability to DIRECTLY Character Kill another faction member at any point in time, and the methods with which a Character Kill is carried out by a Century Global faction member is up to each member's individual judgment. If your in-game actions would give reasonable justification for a Character Kill by the member of another faction, the Century Global faction management reserves the right to allow members of other factions to Character Kill Century Global faction members. Every Character Kill will be thoroughly deliberated before it is approved, and will be approved in very specific circumstances where it would be unrealistic to do so otherwise. Use common sense at all times and understand the impact of your actions if you engage in illegal activities. Remember the scope and theme of this faction and be rational as to what you're doing. If you join this faction to become a narco-terrorist, racketeer, psychopath serial killer or any other criminal archetypes while enjoying the comforts of a high-paying corporate life, join an illegal faction instead.
