  1. I almost completely agree with this post except 1-2 things which I have highlighted in bold. OOC restrictions for hours should 100% be in place to avoid players simply creating a new char after being CK'd, or joining the server, immediately getting a CCW, and causing chaos. I do not agree the 1-2 guns purchasable per month should be in the server as there is nothing that realistically prevents someone from hoarding weapons.
  2. As the CEO of the port I completely support this idea.
  3. This is missing all of the Port Authority's terrority.
  4. Just curious; Is there a plan in place for after the initial launch period to stabilize single spawn points?
  5. I think I agree with you the most here Kjell; Giving the player the option to spawn between their residence or business (as realistically, someone may sleep at their business, or RP 'going to work' when they log off) - the player will just need to keep track of where they last parked their vehicle. I would also like to bring up a point, If a player has keys to multiple businesses/houses (as in rental agreements or is employed at them) they should be limited to how many they can chose as a spawn location (I would say 1 residence and 1 business, tops) and there should be a several day cool-down timer between changing their choice of spawn to prevent abuse.
  6. You made several good points in your post, this is one I would like to harp on. If people spawn in at their house, but vehicles only spawn in once you log in at the last location they were left at, this would further encourage players to have that "Drive home" back to their house before logging off to ensure their vehicle is there when they log on. If they spawn in at their house, and did not drive their vehicle home, they will be forced to use public transportation (bus) or a taxi to get a ride back to their vehicle, whether it be at work or the bar they left it at.
  7. Hello all; I wanted to start yet another thought provoking discussions. SPAWN POINTS I believe having the option of spawn points allows for multiple issues. - Breaks immersion, as one can simply spawn in at work etc, instead of having to spawn in at their house & drive to work, and then drive their vehicle home prior to logging off (AKA going to sleep as most characters say). - People can fast travel by relogging, or switching characters, and then chosing the spawn points they have the option (Business, house, or last location.) - Makes the city seem "empty" - you do not see vehicles travelling back and forth to their destinations, players simply spawn in at their business where they mostly spend the majority of their time. I believe spawn points should be as following - All players should spawn in at their house & then have to travel where they need to do, as in someone waking up & beginning their day. - If someone crashes, or logs off at a certain amount of time, (say 15-30 minutes) is it possible for the server to hold their place, so when they log in, they're at last location. After the 30 minutes lapses, they then respawn at their place of residence if they are not established at a house. - If an individual is homeless, they either spawn at the last spot they logged off on, or spawn in at some kind of pre-established homeless shelter or abandoned building. Is there anything in place by development for this? If not, what's everyone's opinion?
  8. I agree that public transportation can greatly benefit the server in multiple ways. - increased immersion & that “NYC” urban feel of individuals taking busses (and subways once scripted), especially between different boroughs - unique RP situations at bus stops, and whole riding the bus. - increased player jobs (bus drivers, LC transit mechanics & supervisors, etc) However potential drawbacks I can see - Lack of interest in drivers & reliance on players driving for the system to work. If there are not enough drivers, the system will fail. - Unless looking for a truely immersive experience, players will simply still purchase cars or bicycles for rapid transportation between destinations without waiting on bus stops, etc. Not to be a negative Nancy, but this comes from knowing the general nature of roleplayers. however this is something I fully support 100%.
  9. I thought about adding this as a third option, but most stealing a PD car circumstances would have to occur so rapidly that /report'ing may not allow enough time, as in robbing a store you would have enough time to wait outside, stake the business out, etc.
  10. I think this is a pretty fair compromise, this could benefit everyone, not just PD.
  11. Just to show, this does happen in the USA, and is more common than one would actually expect. Recently an individual stole 1 police car on a call, crashed it, and stole another during a chase.
  12. Coming from personal experience - Some law enforcement vehicles are automatically programmed to lock as soon as the door is shut & most officers carry an additional keyfob on their belt to quickly lock & unlock the vehicle. - This could be an option, though I'm not sure how difficult it would be to script, and then individuals would have to basically 'hold up' the officer to steal the key fob & unlock the cars, though, thought I'm not sure how the NYPD vehicles are locked. Generally, at least from the agencies I have worked with, the shotgun/secondary weapon is actually not locked. There is a button on the lightbar controller that unlocks the shotgun rack/AR or it is stowed in a case in the trunk. This allows for rapid access for the officer without having to scramble for a key.
  13. I agree this can happen while offline, but the proposal is just to have the cars spawned when everyone is online
